• About Our Company

    Welcome to the District

Welcome, friends! We're so excited you're here and want you to know that at The Welcoming District, we believe in the importance of making people feel welcome. We believe that gifts have the ability to tell stories and make others feel included and special. It is our mission to help others give beautifully crafted gifts that speak from the heart.

    How We Started

The Welcoming District started as a boutique gift box company that focused on using items unique to the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. Each of our gifts included those goodies from local artisans and a fresh floral bouquet or plant. We focused on local hand delivery and shipped only a small fraction of our gift boxes.

    How We've Grown

Since then, we curate items to tell the story of our clients rather than just the story of our local area. We choose products based on quality, aesthetics, and what matches the heart of those we are helping. While there are times when local products work best, we often find ourselves curating goodies from others' hometowns or working with brands whose missions match ours or our clients'. We currently ship nationwide and offer hand delivery within the DMV.

    About Alicia

    Gift Designer

"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'."

Hi, I’m Alicia! I’m a creative, small-town gal with a passion for giving and helping others. I love beautiful details and creating gifts that tell stories, are aesthetically pleasing, and tug at the heartstrings of each recipient.

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family taught me to work hard and use my imagination to create whatever I wanted in life. My mom and dad often found me creating something to use, gift to someone else, or maybe sell to my next door neighbor (if I was lucky).

With a degree in Interior Plantscape/Floral Design and over ten years of experience working in the hospitality and events industries, founding The Welcoming District came quite naturally. I saw a need for beautifully crafted gifts and married that with my eye for detail and heart for giving.

Founding The Welcoming District has been one of the greatest joys and accomplishments in my life. My hope is that I can use what God gifted me to help you make others feel loved and welcome in your life.
